Energy Efficient Ballast Replacements

Ballasts control the amount of electricity powering a fluorescent or LED light source. Without a ballast to limit the voltage or current across a lamp, either the lamp or the circuit will quickly fail. Electronic lamp ballasts have become the most common lighting ballast technology, replacing the less-efficient magnetic ballast in most applications. Electronic ballasts also greatly reduce or eliminate harmonic distortion (lamp noise), flicker, or fluctuations in light output.

The most common lighting ballast is the rectangular linear fluorescent lighting ballast, which is usually housed in the fixture with one to four T5, T8 or T12 linear fluorescent lamps. For compact fluorescent lamps that aren't self-ballasted, CFL ballasts supply the appropriate voltage and current to the lamps on the circuit. For LED lamps and fixtures, an LED driver performs the same function as a ballast does for fluorescent lamps. We also offer emergency ballasts, which supply power to the lamp during an outage from an integral battery.

The proper electronic ballast protects the light source from damage, and helps maintain high-quality illumination throughout the life of the lamp.

Ballasts Available in Our Online Store

We supply ballasts that are suitable for commercial installations, light ballast replacements, and retrofits. Choosing energy efficient ballasts brings many long-term benefits to commercial projects with one of the key advantages being a large reduction in energy consumption that can significantly reduce lighting costs for many years. An additional bonus is that these ballasts have low maintenance requirements, which adds additional savings over traditional ballast options.

Our online store stocks a large range of energy efficient ballasts so you can select a suitable option for your next lighting installation. Our selection includes T5, T8, T12, CFL, LED, and Emergency Ballasts.

All of the lamp ballasts we stock are available through our online catalogue. To make your search quick and easy we’ve split the ballasts into the following five categories:

T8 Energy Efficient Lighting Ballasts

T8 ballasts are the most common type of ballast. We stock electronic T8 ballasts, which are an energy efficient version of the traditional magnetic T8 ballast. These types of ballasts are a popular choice for commercial installations as they help reduce noise and light fluctuations. We offer a range of wattage and ballast factor options, including 120- and 277-volt ballasts with wattages ranging from 13 to 42.

T5 Lighting Ballasts

T5 ballasts are suitable for a wide range of commercial installations and retrofit projects.  Electronic T5 ballasts are now more popular than the traditional magnetic ballasts as they offer increased efficiency, lower maintenance requirements, and improved lighting. T5 ballasts are designed to be used with between one and four T5 lamps. Select from 120- or 277- volt ballasts with wattages between 13 and 42 watts.

Compact Fluorescent Light Ballasts

Compact fluorescent light fixture ballasts are a great option for downlighting and surface mount fixtures in commercial locations. We stock both two-pin fixtures, for use with single lamps, and four-pin fixtures that are suitable for 2-lamps. Our range includes standalone CFL ballasts and CFL retrofit kits in a selection of wattages ranging from 5-26.

LED Drivers

We offer a selection of high quality LED drivers designed to supply many hours of flicker free lighting through your rated LED lamps. LED drivers are an energy efficient, low maintenance lighting solution that’s suitable for a wide variety of commercial situations. We stock both down lighting drivers for well lit areas and front phase options that are perfect for use when soft and dimmable lighting is required. Shine Retrofit offers constant current LED drivers with outputs up to 22 watts and 700mA, and constant voltage LED drivers up to 120 watts and 24 volts.

Emergency Ballasts

Emergency light fixture ballasts play a vital role in commercial lighting installations, our selection of emergency ballasts include options suitable for T12, T8, and T5 linear fluorescent fixtures. Emergency ballasts contain a battery that maintains a charge, which can be used to power the emergency light for over 90 minutes during a power outage. The built in battery provides a constant source of power to the lamp with options available between 300 and 3000 lumens. We stock both stand-alone ballasts and full retrofit kits.
